Farmers’ Market Bag 4-7-10 #spFMB
Hello all FMB supporters!
While we have been trying to predict what exactly goes into your FMB, we cannot control availabilities from the farms and what they are allowed to harvest day to day and week to week. So, I would like to share with you what is in-season in Southern California. These items will appear in your FMB’s as they are at their peak and available from our farms. We are continuing to bring in more local farms as the program grows and the demand for volume increases.
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SPRING CROPS:
Artichokes, Arugula, Avocados, Beets, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cardones, Carrots, Cherimoyas, Citrus: , Grapefruit, Meyer Lemons, Mandarins, Kumquats, Blood Oranges, Cara Cara Oranges, Pomelos, Tangelos, Eggs, Fava Beans, Fennel, Fiddlehead Ferns, Green Garlic, Herbs: Dill, Leeks, Chives, Parsley, Mint, Tarragon; Lettuce, Mushrooms: Chanterelles, Hedgehog, Morel, Cremini, Nettles, Parsnips, Passion Fruits, Pea Tendrils, English Peas, New Potatoes, Treviso, Radicchio, Radishes, Rapini, Snap Peas, Sorrel, Strawberries, Watercress
We appreciate everyone’s awesome support and feedback. We encourage you to get the word out, let your friends know about the $20 FMB, post photos and recipes to facebook from your FMB experience as this supports the farm to table sustainable movement and gives it the necessary exposure it deserves.
If you have a large family or you are planning an event, remember you can purchase multiple bags to sustain your needs. This week’s featured item is the Baby Anzio Artichoke; here is a link to a simple recipe for grilled artichokes just to get the juices flowing….
There has also been interest in getting local farm fresh eggs. Please collectively let us know if you would like that to become an addition to our FMB, and I will put that in motion.
Thank you all again for your support, encouragement and for being engaged in where your food comes from.
